    Question Multi-color home builds ?

    Hi all !
I'm interested in finding out more about the color combining that people have tried and if you have any really noticeable difference from other combinations you may have had or seen before.

For instance : A home built RRGBV using 660nm,630nm,532nm,473nm,405nm versus the standard RGB using 650nm,532nm,455nm.
Did you build your own and find that you have a much more versatile pallet using the reds or is it just to make the white balance just a little easier to attain ? Do you find that the combined blues make for a marked different blue from most others seen or is it just a personal preference that isn't noticeable when mixing in with other colors ?

This is a chance to show some pictures and tell us what makes your "monster" so good for YOU !
Tell us what you did and what you think it does for you.
What was your plan and did it work out that way ?

    BTW : Has anyone started a RRYGBBV ? (like 660nm,630nm,584nm ?,532nm,473nm,455nm,405nm)

Thanks and lets see it all.

    tell us as in who?

anyway, combining that many colors becomes incredibly difficult... I have an RRGBB

655/642/532/473/445 and I think having the two blues and two reds really makes a difference

I want to add a yellow I have but I can't find optics to make that happen

    I'm currently running R,R,Y,G,G,C,B,dB

    To be more specific: 676nm, 647nm, 568nm, 520nm, 514nm, 488nm, 476nm and 457nm.

    "I'm currently running R,R,Y,G,G,C,B,dB"

But how easy is it for you to select different colors from the main beam ? (Yeah less optics for the main beam but more to select colors...always trade-offs.) As much as I love the idea of having a nice Ar/Kr those gas lasers always take so much power and space.

I have noticed over the last few months that there is a serious lack of optics designed to accommodate the yellow wavelengths. That is part of my interest, to see if anyone has a good solution and might post it here.

But mostly I would like to see a general response from all who do the multi-builds to find out the significance of those extra few additions on the overall output. Is it more of a personal tweak that just bumps up the output where an individual feels that it is needed or does it make a very noteable difference for everyone who sees it.
This would help us newer members in prospective builds to allow for additional bandwidths that prove to be beneficial. (And with enough responses each person can determine for themselves just what qualifies as "beneficial".)

So flecom, do you really notice a big difference from having both blues ? Would the addition of 405nm be as much of a boost to that part of the spectrum for you ? Do you think that your "audience" would notice a lot of difference if you only had one blue ? (Now that last question would also depend on if you use a lot of beam effects or stick to mostly graphics too, I know.)

But a big part of this is to get YOUR opinion on the differences. I don't care about the measurable "facts" about each system built, per se. I am more interested in the reasons for building them.
If most who go through the trouble of adding a bit more say that they believe that it was really worth it then there is a good chance that it is ! No matter what the science of it says. That is what I am after.

Well that and any more cool pictures of the builds. Always like to see 'em !

As for SS-kit... an extra red and blue line make graphics look mega.

I was going to suggest Swisslass for a possible yellow dichro source as they deal with high end stuff, but a google search appears to show no domain name. Wonder if they've folded?

Alternatively try contacting Kvant laser systems as they build many systems using OPSL so must have a yellow solution. Their dichro section says "other wavelengths possible".

It's Swisslas, as in Swiss Laser. Swisslass sounds more like a dodgy soft p0rn flick..

Boy this thread has fallen out fast.
Does nobody else have anything to add about why you add other frequencies to your builds ?
Anybody want to post another picture of you multi-color builds ?
