I knew I had a video of this somewhere. When the problem occurs, have you tried reducing the scan angle to very low and see if it resets? Kinda like in this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-PQ1oDpRYg

i have to reduce the scan angle to almost nothing before it goes back to normal.
    I twisted the polyswitch.
I was told if it was soldered on that it was most likely damaged.
    It it working great now.
Although out of tune a good bit.
The quad pattern at 5 ft has 1in of over shot in the bottom right and 1.5in of retrace in the top left.
And the inner circle in the ilda pattern is not even visible, there a weird squiggle where it should be.
The mirrors when moved feel smooth when theres no power to the amps.
So i hope its not the epoxy but i will do a long run then turn off and check instantly.
So i am going to record the value of the pots before i adjust them into tune.
But even out of tune things look decent.

What scan angle are you at? If you don;t know what it the throw distance to wall / screen and the height of the object.

They appear to be around 25 deg.
And to get the ilda pattern to make a circle in the center i have to turn them down to around 22k.
So im going to tune them with the goal of 40k at 15deg.
I know they say they can do 40k at 20 but i dont want to push them.
Here is a video of the output and software.

    Sorry to double post.
But im noticing a problem with these new galvos.
    The amps get HOT.
i mean they get hot just sitting around.
Enough to warm my 1/2in aluminum base plate!
the size of the plate is 14in by 8in
There is no way these galvos should be able to warm that up.
Video above is them being ran with a show of settings.
The mirrors feel as smooth as my other galvos.
    no tight spots smooth rotation.
So im running these galvos at about 35k with an angle of 25deg and they get hot.
Even sitting they get hot.i switched out the psu for another and that made no difference.
Checked my sound card dac on my 20ks and still worked fine no problems.
im going to try running without the mirrors attached and see what happens.
Maybe a IC went bad or maybe im just screwed.
if you live in the MI area 48331 going up to flint on thursday and want to make 20$ let me bring these over and let you have a crack at them.
