Is it maybe putting out a lot of IR before the galvos?

That could explain why you can measure 810mw a few centimetres away but only 150mw from a larger distance.

Don't know what you have but some cheap lasers are notorious for being underpowered and having a large amount of IR in their output.

EDIT: Ignore my incoherent ramblings. Must have had too much shandy last night at the pub. 650nm is a diode laser so not IR pumped!

Guys, modulated or not, if he tests at the galvos or at the laser aperture, it won't matter, the diode will be running at the same power as long as he keeps the same image displaying. The beam power is dropping somewhere. Borg, process of elimination, check the power at the laser, and then after each dichro. Find out where, in the beam path, your power is going.

EDIT: just also tested before the galvo's. 150mW omg...
there is some leakage on the wooden case though...but not enough to make it burn a bit or hurt my finger.
Please post some pictures of the inside of your projector where you are taking these measurements. It might help for us to see what's going on ..
Also I believe that I read something about 1st contact cleaner leaving a "film" that needs to be removed after drying (?) .. not sure about that.
I don't understand what "leakage on the wooden case" means .. again, pics would be nice ..

OK Borg. I'll be over tomorrow to pick up my 10L of Haze fluid. We'll have a look. But look at what Steve-O said, you DID remove the film that the first contact left on your optics right ?
I have once placed my lasers in storage, when i put them on i was in shock, but then i forgot i put first optic on the output window to protect it against dust hahaha....
    I didn't fail !
I just found out 10,000 ways that didn't work.

Yeah the film of the first contact is gone. Dont order the red colored version though you can barely see its red until you peel it off..

And dont forget to pull our doorbell instead of push it. We live in the stoneage here for a large part haha.

I also cant find any specs sizes or prices about the red module you were talking about.
You are unique! Just like everyone else...

hobbybob can bring the ilda gem for testing, this gives unmodulated beam and eliminates software features
