    If the design is similar to the 815/826 then they are probably just as vulnerable to ESD,facet damage and mysterious death. Also if the increased output is made possible by enlarging the facet dimensions then the far field divergence will suffer. We need to look at power, longevity AND beam quality.

    Even though I have to agree from a professional (laserist) POV, the problem is that audiences want laser displays to be brighter, brighter, BRIGHTER. So that's why the hunger for more power was started... and potential customers get thrilled by more Watts of power, no matter the beam quality.

    The diodes have arrived.
