    Hi Dave,

I'm new to these forums and new to lasers (other than years of watching them) and I'm looking to build my first laser, so forgive me if my questions are basic or outrageous.

I'm looking at your 30kpps Scanner Galvo set on Ebay (7415545172) which seems more than ample for me, if I purchase this set, a housing and a laser source, hook it up to a ILDA compliant package and I have my first laser?
I realise there's more to it than just "hooking it up" but from a hardware point of view is that it or am I missing the plot completely?

    Many Thanks

    Damo

    Hi Damo,

    Yup,

all you require is a laser and signal source such as pangolin ld2000 or a flashback and your away. A safety shutter would be a good idea as well

    Thanks Dave,

Am I right in thinking that the set you are selling already contains the ILDA controller board or do I need to purchase this separately? Can you recommend one? As I am quite new I don't fancy spending lots of money on controller software, if I bought a Parallelport DAC to use Popelscan (to get me started) will this also work?

Thanks for your time, it's much appreciated.

    Hi

the LPT DAC is designed to work with Stepper-Scanners and other very Slow Scanners. Better use something like the Easylase USB if LD 2000 is too expensive for you. It works with LDS, Mamba and the Freeware "HE-Scan"

The LPT DAC never delivers more than 8K and also 8 Bit Resulotion is not enought to get a good looking Graphic.

    Hi,

I've already added the Easylase to my shopping list as you are right; the LD2000 is too pricey right now. I think I'm also going to go with PHOENIX show controller. (which looks like LDS)

Just so I have this straight, do the scanner drivers require anything further than an input from Easylase (for example) or is their another interface board required?
Sorry, this is the confusing bit for me.

    Many Thanks

    No worries.

The 30k scanners have diffirential inputs, and will connect to a ilda port with no extra interfacing.. ou will need to supply the db25 plug tho
