    Default high current led driver

    ok I have a high current led 3.3v 18amps, it needs to function in a automobile environment. I would love to just be able to put a resistor in series with it but unfortunately with voltage fluctuation 10.5v-16v it would likely burn it out. Any easy current regulated circuits any one can think of to solve this issue. I was looking at multiple parallel NTE935's but I am not sure this will work.
    My other laser is being used on the deathstar. C>----X

    If you want to build boards look at the national lm3433.

    Making 3.3V at 18A from 10.5v to 16v is not trivial.

    As chad said, you want to go switch-mode to do this.

    Doing it with voltage regulators or resistors will require you to burn up to (16V-3.3V)*18A = 228.6W as heat.
