Exactly the 'main point' of Post 154... ...I, for one, am very-glad we have multiple viable-options for the 'toolbox'.. ..and yes, 6215s rock...

...and a very-valid 2-pence that is... ..in the 'real world', that's what really-counts.. Of course, the 'science / engineering-behind' our tech should-be of the highest-quality / most-well-engineered / highly-scrutinized - I mean, we are steering multi-watt laser-beams, here.. But, all this 'my wire is better and more tightly-wound around my lollypop-stick than yours' is pretty silly, when what really-matters, at the end of the day, is did the product do a great job with *your*-content, and leave you the hero, or did they fail - in even some small finickey-way - and leave you covered in stinky tomato-juice and a lawsuit?... I mean, this is not a discussion about two different pieces of garbage, here...

..If the 7Ks are truly *not* 'as-advertized', and - certain 'purported-to-be x-number of times-better than everything else in the universe' galvos actually prove-out - in the real world, under varied and even sometimes harsh / less-than ideal environments - well, then that all should become pretty-apparent in a pretty short amount of time... I still don't really get the need for the 'witch-hunt', earlier in this thread... seems rather un-necessary at this time / could have been handled-differently, at the very least... Just put the raw data / example pix / o-scope shots out-there, and let the soldiers-decide which gun will be the best for their-particular firefight...

    cinquenta-centavos, as-usual..

And a big amen to that Mr. j!

I personally find it somewhat uncool of Mr. Benner to publicly wash his laundry here with Mr. Kamaras. It gives the impression of trying to minimize future competition in the scanner world. Here in Germany one could even face legal consequences for publicly stating business damaging comments, true or not.

Back to the subject.. I’m not expecting 6215 performance out of these, I’m expecting EyeMagic performance and reliability. Besides that I’m expecting an above average bang for the buck effect and for the price paid in the GB the bang is already there. One has to keep in mind that these are way cheaper than a set of 60k 6215s so to expect 6215 performance would be overdoing it a little bit. I think I can live with the spillover @ 60° since I don’t intend on doing 60° graphics with these and for beam shows I don’t need “60k scanners”, for beams I’ll use EMS4000 or DT40 wide with larger apertures. So let’s wait and see what we’ll get out of these.

    Cheers!

Legal consequences for stating damaging facts about a competitor's products, even if true? Really? That would produce a pretty inefficient market.

Nice pics! I can see where you have been spending some time. Convective? Or are you going to incorporate any fans to cool the base plate?

Where are the lasers Solarfire I see only a scanhead
Nice setup, almost exact same as mine, you just have the Color sensor for the Iris which I don't yet own

I'm very interested to know the results with the sensor. As the Iris alone doesn't give perfect results, adding noise to the beam when it decrease the power in the safety zone...

No extra cooling planed at the moment. The only thing mounted directly on the base plate is the scanner block which will create some heat. I’m going to measure heat dissipation on the scanner block once everything is up and running. If heat gets excessive I plan on TECing the scanner block top side. The projectors will be hermetically sealed with a TEC heat exchange system to the outside, practically air-conditioning (heating/cooling) the inside. Tired of dirt in projectors.

This is just a slide in quick swap sled, allows quick exchange of the scanner section for another typ, DT40 wide setup for example. The projector build is modular, self contained scanner module (scanner, amps, IRISColorSafe and PSU), RGB Module (lasers, combining optics TEC/LD-drivers) and main PSU-module (1 x 5V/12A, 2 x 12V/12.5A, 1 x 12V/18A, 1 x 3.4V/16A, 1 x 5V/2A control/standby)

Wow... Can't wait to see this! From the total power of your supplies you provided, I believe you should have several watts of laser power Or is it a computer power supply?

The power supply is a higher grade ASUS computer supply normally used in servers, very compact (260mm x 105mm x 40mm) and stable at rated output. I got these surplus dirt cheap, so I picked up a couple.
