    Default ILDA Controller and Software

I am looking to buy my first ILDA Controller and Software.
I'm on a tight budget.I've been quoted 369 euro for the Easylase USB OEM and Mamba 2004 bundle new from JMLaser.
Does anyone know of a cheaper solution or are selling their own controller/software so they can upgrade.
I'm looking forward to playing with my new toy
    Cheers
    Jim

I remember liteglow was selling his parallel dac, along with some galvos too. might want to drop him a PM and see what he has to say .

On the other hand, I believe jmlasers is about the cheapest solution out there, as far as usb goes.

There's another option that requires you to use linux, along with a modified 5.1 sound card, it's called laserboy if memory serves me well. The guy is also a member here, so might as well search for him and drop him a pm

    hope this helps
Remember the future?, That'd today, as you imagined it yesterday.

If using USB with 8 bits x/y are an option you might want to inquire about ->afrob's ->bILDA2 DAC - and try Tschosef's ->HE-Laserscan (warning: german language ;-)). The latter offers a free trial version, the Pro version is about 150 EUR, afaik. The software offers some english laguage support as well.

Pretty amazing what one might get out of these "low cost" babies :-)

If you need help in translating or contacting these guys, drop me a note.

    Hi

I got that m6008 gavlos with a LPT dac..
I guess I can give it away for a nonsens price

But I recomend you to buy USB dac (easylase) and maybe mamba\LDS.
If you buy mamba black, I will gladly trade show if you make one someday

And you can buy the DT-40 galvos from Jian (i think they cost around 600dollar) And can scan 30-45kpss professional galvos..

The laser that I will be playing with is a CIR Super 1s, it has an ILDA iterface.
That is what I want to 'talk' to so I dont need to buy galvo's.

Christoph, isn't th Bilda2 just for Unix/Linux systems?
I want something to go with XP, I think Easylase is the way to go.

Has anyone got Mambo Black or LDS that they want to sell?

I think the combination of the Easylase USB (The cheaper OEM board, I mean, not the stand-alone unit) and Mamba Black probably offers the best value for your money. (Especially if you're just getting started.)

I have the Alphalite XC Pro Dac and software, and while there are some very nice features in the software, it does not support music playback, nor does it support analog color mixing. Music is always a big part of a show, and the fact that the Alphalite can't be syncronised to music is a big problem for me.

Then too, there are some limitations to using a parallel port to talk to your laser. (Do a search for "Alphalite" if you want to dig up past discussions about these limits...) So I can't really recommend it over Mamba...

While I am happy with my Alphalite unit, if I had it to do all over again I think I would have rather gone with the Easylase/Mamba solution. In fact, when I upgrade, I'll probably go that route. But the Alphalite does offer one of the best abstract generators, and also includes several different modules for things like text, tracing pictures, editing animations (including onion skinning), and aligning beams to bounce mirrors in real time.

No matter which way you go, you're going to end up spending more money than you planned! Lasers are a money-pit of a hobby - get used to it! But if you buy a solid solution now, you'll be able to use it for a long time to do laser displays... (There are a few members here using Mamba Black and EasyLase USB as their ONLY solution for commercial shows!)

Nope, the hardware is quite indifferent to Linux or XP or whatever - once you got a driver supporting the hardware.

I have it up and running on my w2k and XP laptops using HE-Laserscan, works just fine. And by using a powered USB hub, at quite a distance, too :-)
