Curious about the IRIS Safe... so when you install it into your projector does is "just work" or do you need to set it up to work with the characteristics of your laser modules? I'm wondering if it gets you out of doing all the MPE math? I think you would want to do all those measurements and calculations just to be on the safe side to know that it is working, but I'm curious how easy it is to set up initially.

Hey Mike,
I haven't set mine up yet but this will help you get an idea.
here is a link to the IRIS manual.

It has a realtime feedback of the power output of the lasers thanks to its RGB sensor, and calculations are done in realtime and closed loop to correct for linearity, balance etc. Also the embedded electronics decrease gradually the intensity of the lasers when the beams are going down to the audience, depending on parameters such beam speed and power (not abruptly like every other safety). Seems *really* nice, at least in theory
But there is of course a few parameters to configure before it will operate correctly.
