    Default Help with Galvo's!

    Hello All,
Had posted the below post in 'Modification'.. but didn't receive much help.. hope I could get some more response out here
The projector is from MediaLas, model Mistiqe
All the help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks Kama
    "Hello All,
I'm using a 2.5 watt RGB laser projector purchased from Europe. Now it seems one of the galvo mirror is not working as I get a straight horizontal output line. It is pretty expensive to send the projector back & forth to the manufacture.
My concern how do I repair/replace the galvo?
Can I change the galvo at my end or is it a MUST to send the projector back to the manufacture.
Do I have to change both the galvo's
How do I know what type of galvo to order (any physical mark on the part),
Any precaution be taken to make these last longer (this is the 2nd time within a year that these galvos have gone off).
    All the help is appreciated"
    Thanks Kama

    Question

    Hi Kama

You now for sure is the Galvo?

You check: fuses, cables and amps?

Switch the amps cables to see if change something.

Try to help to locate the culprit.

    Cheers,
    Ed

Yes shipping back and forth expensive , so you are going to HAVE to learn unless you can find anyone local on here with expertise
    who can visit etc

When i joined here I didnt know what a galvo was , been a steep long learning curve but needs must !

SWAP the galvo leads from one galvo to another as megaton explained , this will help troubleshoot confirming
that the issue is indeed the galvo and not some other problem

If the galvo is faulty , might be cheaper to buy a new set depending on what galvos involved rather than repair

certainly a LOT cheaper to send back a single galvo than whole laser

Sorry , your gonna have to get your hands dirty , get that lid lifted !

Please can you post good, clear pictures of the galvo, the amp(s) and the wiring between the galvo and the amps? It will be much easier to help you with a better idea of what MediaLas used in this model/what alternatives could be used that would be compatible with what you currently have.

pricing depends alot, scanners start at around 100 dollar up to 3K
mayby medialas could make a special deal for you because you own one of their projectors or mayby even get it for free under warranty.
replacing a scanner / drivers isnt that hard to do if they arent glued into place

but please upload a picture so we can see what you would need.

Thanks a Ton, feel overwhelmed with the welling members in helping out a stranger in this materialistic world.
Unfortunately, I'm out on a job for a week, I should post some snaps the moment I get back.
    thanks again
