    Default The End Is Near

OK, this isn't about the end of the world, just the end of the audio CD and the concept of a music album...

Does Harold Camping have something to do with this?

well, you know - it's cause it makes 'cents vs sense'... just like most-everything else is designed-for in this rotting world - quantity over quality - lossy-compression vs hi-fidelity / plastic vs metal / 'cheap' outsourced-labor and manufacturing vs homegrown craftsmanship... Oh well.... :roll eyes:

The old trusty CD has lived a long life when you think about it. 1982 - 2011, that's a good innings.

    Long live RedBook.

EDIT: I still have my first CD player, the original Sony D50 portable, with carry/battery case and it still works!!! I should see what I can get for it on eBay complete with the service manual and a 2nd D50 (dead) for spares.

They can't take away magnetic tape! They could upload PCM for us audiofiles to download, the files would just be a lot bigger (and probably a lot more expensive..server memory space and all that junk ..) But they could do it . Hate to hear the end of cd's tho .. just another giant leap for mankind .. fudge ..
