Default Info on where to buy red diodes

rather than people having to look through vasious very long threads (20 pages) could people post best deals on red diodes?

i believe there are two diodes 300mw and 500mw? is that correct?

    ^ What PB said :]
AFAIK, there are 4 red (635-640 nm) diodes that are being researched, evaluated and/ or used at this point:
1-63133 150 mw single mode 638nm small emitter (best beam specs.)
2-520G71 300mw multimode 638nm medium size emitter (has been tamed with good optics)
    3-HL6388 250mw multimode 638nm small emitter
4-520G73 500mw multimode 638 that are (as noted above) extremely hard to find. (lol @ Badger "rocking horse shit")

unknown as i have not found any rocking horse shit as yet , but i suspect a lot of sellers were trying to sell the 300mw ones as 500mw and may have been rumbled.
or there also was talk of poor quality diodes with the 500mw, hopfully a new supply will surface soon

the good thing about it is that the 300mw is closed can while the 500mw is open can, so not easy to fool us
DTR's shop is the best bang for the buck so far. very very fast shipping and the g71 mitsu sells for 55usd over there
