Most of the time, someone acting like a kid waving a pointer around is frowned upon here on the boards, and if it happens, we mostly try to convince him/her to slap a pair of scanners onto it, build a box around it and do something more interesting with it than driving the local feline population crazy.
But don't forget that this is a public forum and everything posted here will also be readable (or searchable!) from the outside world. In that way, some ignorant person catching half a thread (or even a single remark) out of context -- that could be an issue.
I've just read this entire thread and found it thoroughly enjoyable! Rszemeti obviously knows what he's talking about and is clearly out of place here. That's a shame. Where can someone go to discuss lasers without having to dumb it down to accommodate the lowest level of intelligence that *may* read his words, IF their span of attention is long enough to get through a paragraph? I'm soooo sick of nanny state paranoia. "Everyone MUST wear a bicycle helmet for every ride, everywhere and always." Right. And then on the first page we have an immediate recommendation to point the beam into the air to make it safer?!?!?!??? I can't think of a more dangerous thing to do with a beam.![]()

Respectfully, I don't see that interpretation in any thing he said in this thread. I read his position as that people should be allowed to play with (experiment, use, explore) chainsaws even though occasionally some may cut their finger or drop a heavy part on their foot in the process. Is there an "Adults Only" section here more appropriate for his comments?
buddy... we get a lot of young people here new to lasers ... they can build a multiwatt 445 laser for next to nothing ( compared to what i could 30 years ago ) and shine it apon thier friends .... this statement below says to them ..... well what it says .... i have read it over and over ....do you read something different to what a newbie sees ?

Not only do I believe people should be allowed to play with dangerous things, I think people should play with dangerous things and occasionally get hurt. Theres nothing like the smell of burning flesh and a missing bit of skin to bring the lesson home in a practical manner.

He might not be a "Laser Proffesional", but I if he was, I think he would be able to spell it correctly.
