Just because someone does something potentially reckless with a laser cutter in China, doesn't mean that's the standard for everyone to follow.

You're obviously a very intelligent and guy who has a lot of laser knowledge. However, I don't believe there a place on a public forum for an attitude to safety where you say you don't care if others injure themselves through lack of knowledge.

One mistake can mean permanent blindness for life and given the number of totally clueless people who come here via google this can only lead to someone hurting other themselves or others.

Maybe you don't care about them hurting themselves but you should care about them hurting others as it could be you or I walking down the street that gets a pointer in the eye from idiot number 1 who thinks it ok having read it on a thread on here that only Kilowatt lasers are truly dangerous and 200mw lasers are only dangerous if you stare into the beam. I believe the Tommorrowland incident involving laser pointers at 200mw+ demonstrates that eye damage can occur from such low powered lasers in certain circumstances. In fact according to the ILDA report, a 200mw pointer could produce an exposure of 1020mw/cm2 at 3m : http://www.laserist.org/2009-07_Belgian-incident.htm. That's 100 times MPE.
