Default Problem - Straight Beam on switching on the projector

    Hello All,
My question is in two parts
1st - I have been encountering a strange problem with my projector
The moment I switch on my laser ( Only power on) I get a low intensity, straight beam from the projector, but once the the software comes in action, the bean disappears.. any idea as to what I might be doing wrong? It is a Medialas laser & Mamba S/W.
2nd Is there a site or anywhere in this form where I could familiarize certain technical phrases or words used/related to & in the laser fraternity - variance, divergence, scan angle, blanking points etc.
    I'm still a learner
    Thanks
    Kama

    Hi Kama

What colour is the beam that's coming out of your projector? If it has a 445nm blue diode fitted this can be quite common (if the low power beam is just blue).

However, I am a little worried that from what you've said there doesn't appear to be a shutter fitted. If there was, this beam wouldn't come out as soon as the projector was switched on.

In answer to your second question, I did a quick google search and turned up the following...

    http://www.laserist.org/Laserist/showbasics_10.html

    http://www.ctalasers.com/laser-glossary.htm

I'm sure there are many more, but this should give you a start

    Cheers

    Hello Jem,
Thanks a ton mate for the links provided.. deeply moved that you took the pain to google the info!
As for the beam.. it is red in colour.. yes there is no physical shutter on the projector.. as far as I remember.. MediaLas does not have a shutter on any of its projectors...or does it?.
    Thanks once again

    Hmmm... That's me done then

I was hoping it would be a simple solution such as the residual blue from the diode. I'm sure someone else will be along soon that can answer your question.

Oh, and no worries about the links

    Cheers
