Here is some details : http://www.novalux.com/assets/downlo...rrays_Apps.pdf

Novalux's prototype Necsel devices emit 3 W at 465 nm and 532 nm and 750nbsp;mW at 620 nm - all from a new package smaller than a matchbox.

Manufacturing cost for all three colors with a total of three watts of red, blue and green has been determined to be significantly less than $80 in quantities of about one million units per year

WOW, less than $80? Now I can definitely see an RGB system in my future :P

and now the good question, how do they make 465nm and 620nm? What crystals are they using, if any?

Wait, 80$ if you buy 1'000'000 pieces :?

The wavelength are different than standard DPSS just because these lasers are diode lasers... Some sorts of vertical emitting diodes, which have very good beam properties, like round beam...

I imagine to have a projector in my cell phone in 10 years with this technology

I think they meant $80 if they can produce 1.000.000 units a year. We don't actually need to purchase all those units, thankfully :P .

Once they start producing them in sufficient quantities, there sure will be some left for the aftermarket. Meaning us

Might becoming realistic soon, it seems.

can someone tell me what is going on here ?

I never heard about laser tv the past months..
And SUDDENLY they gonna sell the TV NEXT YEAR???

When plasma was introduced, you did know 3 year before you ever did get one!! the same with LCD!

But there is something I dont understand here..
    3WATT of blue ???
Is`nt that way overkill to use inside a small TV when 100mW burn plastic!!

And how do they manage to produce 3Watt blue\green so small?
When you only can find expencive poor 50-200mW blue lasers on the marked today....??

The same with green... a 3Watt is not "small" ...

And the last question, can you ripp out this 3Watt blue\3Watt green\and almost 1Watt red and use it for a personal RGB laser with galvo ??

    I`m confused..
