    Default Help Identifying Some Parts

Does anyone have any idea what these are and what they may be good for. I took them from an EKG. I would love to come up with some application for them. All help is appreciated.

Looks like some sort of galvo or motor with position feedback?

That would make sense, the position feedback. I was wondering why there were so many wires. I may need to have a look inside and see what is there.

I think they are stepper motors. Look like pretty good ones at that. Do you have a size reference?

Hey, If it isn't my boy MAAARC. Good to talk to you on here. If I ever get back up the mid hudson valley again to visit my family, I'm going to drive over and antagonize you. Anywho...

I have a 6" scale in the foreground of picture 1.

crap- sorry. didnt see the ruler. my guess is steppers. i think they are a lil too large for galvos. the bottom (or back parts) definitely look like encoders of some sort (position feedback).

And hell yeah bud...if you're ever up in CT. area, give me a call!!! ill make sure i dont answer....oops, i mean......take ya out for a beer! lol. (seriously, give a call!)

I think steppers would have more wires.

I don't think they are steppers. If you look at the connector the last two look like dc motor power to me. The top group I would guess is the feedback.

They are a galvo of some sort. Easy to test is hook up a multimeter to the bottom pair of wires and turn the shaft back and fourth. Or better yet use a scope.
If you see some voltage then try a AA battery and I am betting that you will see some movement.

There are 6 wires coming from the side of each unit and two wires coming from the top.
