I looked on Riya's site and wonder about compatibility since they only list drivers for very old versions of Windows.

I use either Windows 7 or Vista and one laptop running Ubuntu Linux. On the site they mention only Windows98/Millenium/NT/2000/XP which are VERY old obsolete and unsupported versions.

I have copies of Windows 98 and Windows 2000 and I suppose I could set up a dual boot on my computer but lose speed capability of multiple processors and 64 bit OS by doing so.

Do I have to run an obsolete OS to use this dongle? What about the actual software? Will it not function on Windows 7 or Vista? What about my Linux lap top?

Who sells it besides drlava/Nautilus? I ordered a laser driver from him once, had to contest the charge with my bank because product never shipped, he refused to answer emails or phone etc. and my order would not appear on his shopping cart when I put in my order number or email. It finally showed up two months later...never again.

I'd like to report that my riya lite is starting to fail again. I sent my old one to drlava and he mailed me another which he personally soldered and used a new usb cable. It worked flawlessly all the time. I tried both on my laptop and on my desktop only to experience stutterting and lag while running simple shows on LSX.
Where can I good usb cable which will last for more than a year ?

EDIT: Ok now it seems to work for the laptop no problem. But desktop is still a pain in the ass.

As for a USB cable that will last more then a year, no chance.

Use a short 10 cm USB Extender cable. Leave the DAC plugged into the extender. Then sacrifice the extender, not the DAC cable. Or use a hub. You want a short cable as USB has a maximum electrical length allowed of two meters.

My Riya DAC runs fine under Seven. I'll try it on Eight Point One this evening.

    As for an alternative:

Illumination Supply in California has the newest Riya Lite Dac in STOCK!

so, here's what I mean with stuttering and lagging. First video shows the show running on LSX on my laptop. Second video, same show, on desktop.
So the problem lies on the desktop for some reason. Note that I tried using a direct USB port and and USB HUB, but i get the same results... I really can't tell which component doesnt work as it should at this point.

I'm using it with Windows 8.1 64 bit. There is a trick to install the driver because it isn't signed but it isn't difficult. I also have those DACS in stock. I can sell them with the GLS license or without, so if you don't want GLS you can get the DAC for considerably less. I haven't officially set up sales on my website or all I want to do before I sell it but if anyone is interested they can PM me. I'm purposely not writing pricing details here because they are not yet set in stone.
