I got a reply from Winni about the faulty module, she says it's the KTP inside the module causing the problems. Hopefully she can work this problem out![]()

Im sure she will solve it for you. No worries![]()
2x 1W RGB(DT40 PRO)
1x 4W RGB, Full diode (DT40 WIDE)
2x 1W, 532nm(DT40 WIDE)
1x ALC68 ArgonGasser with 8ch, PCAOM
5xFB3SE, BEYOND
In progress, 2x 2,5w RGB
I will be adding my info here and in my OP as well. I'm a bit newer to all of this and didn't immediately realize this was a projector problem, I assumed maybe I was just trying to project a frame that the scanner couldn't handle and it was showing some of the green lines of the laser because it couldnt modulate fast enough or something stupid like that!
Winni at Goldenstarlaser.com
EDIT: My projector has not been doing this anymore and I'm thinking that maybe I had some bad traces from quick trace that may have been creating a situation that seemed similar. For now I'm reserving judgement but so far my green seems fine and the overall projector has been very good! I'm having a blast with it, thanks Winni!

After loooong time without a DAC , I finally placed an order of Pangolin QuickShow from Winni , Can't wait to receive it , as this will going to be my first DACexcited like a 8 yrs old right now

May I ask what you paid for it? I have a love-hate relationship with QuickShow. In many instances it is amazingly easy to use and very powerful. But from time to time you will encounter clunky modules (like the frame editor) that feel very outdated and kludgy.
My biggest complaint, though, is that you are pretty much locked into the Pangolin sandbox with the FB3. I guess that is ok as long as you are aware of it going in. You can't share your shows or creations with anyone but other Pangolin users, it won't export to ILDA or anything like that.
Again, it is a really easy-to-use and powerful program but know that you are going to be entering a complicated web of DRM that is more complicated than what you may have been used to before, with the combination of hardware AND software limitations.
The really BAD thing is that the only "open" system I know of out there is LSX / RIYA(?) which I haven't found quite as easy to use, although I am under the impression that it may be more powerful.
It is also more confusing since I'm not sure how the RIYA DAC'S compare to the FB3 and I am not sure which combo is best, best bang for $, etc...
So it feels like you have powerful, easy-to-use, expensive, closed system vs more powerful, higher learning curve, more open system with more responsive developer, similarly priced system.
And you have to choose right up front because they don't work with each other...
Tom
The are no output quality issues with Riya over FB3 dacs. However, EtherDream is considerably more powerful than either of those dacs.
LSX is more difficult than QuickShow. It is also more powerful and exports ILDA. If you need some examples of what can be done with LSX, just let me know.
I own QuickShow/FB3 and LSX/EtherDream. I pretty much abandoned QuickShow after buying LSX. Not to knock QuickShow. It's good at what it was designed for, but I needed more power and flexibility.
suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.
Great post Swamidog! Can you help me understand the differences between the etherdream and RIYA dacs? As a hobbyist, I don't need ethernet cabling and I can see how that could be a big help to a pro, and maybe I am completely off base over the advantages - that is the problem, I DON'T know much about the DAC's and can't find an easy way to learn the differences.
If I were to get LSX, what would be the advantage of getting etherdream DAC over RIYA?
Thanks so much!
Tom
i recommend you get a ethernet connected dac. the electrical isolation is much better than with a dac that's usb connected.
j4cbo (the creator of the EtherDream) and drlava would be more qualified on that than i am. however..
ED supports OSC (so you can control dac settings/projection size/geometric correction from any device that has an OSC client.. like, an ipad, or phone.
it will also play ilda wave files and .ild show files natively from a microusb card.
there's a lot of great information here: http://www.ether-dream.com/
here are a couple of the shows i've done with LSX and an EtherDream.
graphic show:

and an abstract show.. this is where LSX really shines.

Swamidog, do you have a build thread on your RGB? That is a NICE looking projector! What scanners are you running? It seems to scan flawlessly and your colors are superb!
I like the idea of the iPhone running my projector, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg to do just that. Hopefully the good doctor or j4cbo can chime in with some info on what the benefits of ED are over RIYA.
Your shows are outstanding!
Tom
sorry. no build thread. i'll do a write up if it ever stops being a work in progress (spoiler: they never do)
it looks like this:
inside is a 500mW dhom 532, a 600mW kvant 642, and an overly complicated dual 445 module i engineered. the scanners are pretty standard issue dt40w's. i've just done a lot of tweaking and optimizing.
the projector in the "LSX, Etherdream, and VMware" is actually heroic's. it's her video. i just grabbed it as a demo for you.
