What has always confused me about IRC is this.

Every channel has a few hard-core "experts". These "experts" spend most of their time in IRC.

When did they find time in the real world to become experts?

Their lack of social skills is a big hint that they don't live in the real world, instead they sit in IRC and google their knowledge.
