Smile What happened to Spec's transmission?

    Hey people...

Just wondering if anyone has heard from Robert (Admin)? I got a voicemail from him that said he was on his way to someone's house the other day and the transmission in his Jeep blew up. He was on the side of the road and stranded.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the voicemail until the next day. (He called after I had gone to bed.) I texted him back a few times the next day, but I haven't heard any response yet. Just wondering if anyone knew what happened?

For the record, I had a few problems with the transmission in my 1993 Jeep (also a grand cherokee, like Rob has), and it was a bad wire the first time and a bad solenoid the second time. From what the mechanics told me, the actual hardware inside the transmission is pretty durable. They almost never fail internally. It's usually something simple like a bad solenoid or some other electrical problem. Also, they have a port where you can read fault codes off the module that controls the transmission...

    Any news?

Have you tried IRC-chat Adam? He's usually on there. I chatted with him briefly a week or 2 ago there. (Before all the drama started..) Hope he is well and ok .

The neutral safety switch is prone on those vehicles as well.

I had to bypass it on my '91 Cherokee, so, there is no reverse lights and it will start in gear but it solved a bunch of other intermittent problems.

Sorry, was flying all-day yesterday, and could only get dashed-line updates from Cap'n Spec, via text, between flights - Summary: 1. Blythe, CA, is a $#!†hole, where people will up-charge you for a motel-room that even the roaches are afraid to stay-in; 2. Whatever failed in whatever part of his engine, seemed to 'heal', long enough for him to hobble to swami's, as-noted by Sir Karl... 3. His current happy face looks like this: so hopefully, the recent PL Dramarama will be somewhat chill by the time he gets back...

..that said, he says 'Hi' and sends X's and O's to everyone. Almost.
