Default Can Someone Tell me, Whats the difference?

I am trying to learn... What would the differences in performance be between these 2 projectors? Is the older model or newer model better?

Here is the NEW 1,6W full color SPECTRUM eLite

And here is the older model: 1,6W full color laser system SPECTRUM

I'd go with the older full size Spectrum as you can do upgrades to it at a later time, the eLite is more entry level but a killer tiny size. The eLite also comes in a metal cover version if your going to "tour" with it might be worth looking at. Both are spec'ed the same for laser power, one says 637nm vs 640nm It comes down to size, if you willing to deal with the bigger spectrum you have more options down the road to upgrade the lasers. With the eLite its all super compact and finding modules to swap is not going to be fun.

I havnt seen a eLite yet but I would have to guess both will be on par for performance. Same scanner options.

I'm not certain there will be a performance difference between these based on specs. I think the difference really comes in the case and it's design. I question Kvant messing with what looked like a good thing to begin with. I'd take the older aluminum case with the built in beam block over a plastic case without a hanging bracket any day. I haven't looked THAT closely at the specs but, I really doubt that if you sat in front of them and watched a show you'd see much difference. I'd go older style. My $.02

Should there be a big price difference between the 2 projectors?

It seems like all the sites that I find prices on... the older full size Spectrum is more costly!

That is why I assumed the older full size Spectrum would perform better for some reason.

You should check with the dealers direct, Kvant lowered the price on many items in the last few weeks. ctlasers had some posts about price changes.

Aluminum costs more than plastic for one thing. And, anodizing. Plus, the price on these, just like anything else drops over time. I think the benchmark is...once I buy it, the price drops! I watched a guy check out of a store the other day with a 19" flat panel high def TV for $93. What do you think it sold for 6 months ago? Plus, if a dealer has it in inventory, they have to move it at a profit and based on whatever Kvant's wholesale price was at that time. Kvant might be charging a lower wholesale rate now.

    Hello onsatmex5-

the "Elite" uses 650nm Red. Where as the regular Spectrum uses 637 red. (MUCH brighter). Elite has a more affordable casing compared to the regular spect. The Elite also uses just the LM scanning system. The regular spectrum uses LM *OR* Cambridge. Make sure the pricing you see distinguishes between them. Where are you located??

    Hello Marc,

I chatted with you on the phone awhile back..I am going to be ordering from you very soon... the one you gave me a price quote on the, KVANT Spectrum 1.6W RGB (CT scanners, 35kpps)

It is listed here but the Red module: is 640nm on kvant site >>http://www.synchrovision.co.uk/product/10-kvant- spectrum-1-6w-rgb-ct-scanners-35kpps

It looks like they have changed some of the spec's a little on the whole line not sure??

But I do want to go with the 637 red if you think that is the better choice.

I appreciate all the help you gave me when we chatted
