Default I just want to say hi

    Hi everybody!

I was just looking for a forum to find and maybe share information about lasers and landed on this forum. Any interesting suggestions on what I really shouldn't miss on this forum??

    Greetings,

    Schnibel

well read up on safety. Learn from the expensive mistakes others have made.
Use the search bar, that is always a given.
What do you like about lasers?
    Pointers or shows?
If you into hand held lasers there may be more resources at LPF
But if you are into laser shows or super high powered laser you are in the right place.
You say share information does this mean you have experience with lasers? if so list what fun units you have worked with.

    Dear Schnibel,
Welcome to PL, and thank you for your introduction.

If you have any questions at all, no matter how small or seemingly specific I would say: search first, and then ask away!
This place can seem a little scary at times; but we don't all bite... honest!

Have a great Christmas and New Year.
    Best Regards,
    Dan

+! Here's a good resource, for you - http://www.photonlexicon.com/wiki/in...he_Netherlands - I am sure it will 'grow' / mature, with time... and you've got plenty of fellow countrymen, there, to help you make sense of it all / give seasoned-advice / create artwork, etc...

    Hi,

    Thanks for the friendly welcome...

I've been busy with small lasers for a while now and a while ago there was a laser + fireworks show right next to my home which was really awesome. But it made me want to know how these lasers where made and how they could project images in mid air, like it was at about 5 meters away from the lens. I made photos of the event but there was a pole right in the middle of the action.

A friend of me was standing right next to it and his photo is a bit more clear.

I don't have any experience with super high powered lasers and that lasershow was the first I ever witnessed. I just like to see what the possibilities are and if there are possibilities at all for poor people like me. Learning a bit more advanced things about things you do in the same category and it seems like this forum has the most people that really know what they are talking about.

Hello Schnibel, welcome to PL and happy holidays to you!
Be aware that you have chosen a hobby that can become very addictive and expensive!
I looked at your pictures you have shared with us, were there overhead aircraft viewing this? I had expected to see some beams right up in the huge smoke clouds up above, yet they were only low to the ground and for the most part doing the same thing(s)

    Have fun and stay safe,
    Mitch

I found some photos made by the regional fire brigade which clearly show some kind of screen where the lasers are put through so that explains it all... I couldn't see that screen from the place I was...

I know it could be an expensive hobby but I don't know how far I will go with it... Maybe I'll just keep watching :P

Hello schnibel. Welcome here at PL. I see your from the netherlands too. If you are interested there are some laser enthousiast meetings (LEM ) organised in the netherlands and also in the UK to visit. There are allot of people who can point you in the right direction. Before starting to build something think what you want to achieve. A small full color of 1.5 watt can do most small venue,s and that is a good for a start. Most people want to upgrade to higher power so when you have plans to build something then start with a case that is big enough for the future. Do some research first because a patient man saves money allot. There are a few dutch guys like michelrietveld, hobbybob, rizard and vjernst who have a case of mine and they build their projectors themselves. I can give you some good information about how to build a projector. In all things in live is that quality comes with a certain price but in the end you will be more happy with a higher quality projector. Its kind of like a tool. A cheap screwdriver will do the job but it doesn,t last very long and it the handle is not nice and soft so it,s not really fun to work with. When you have a cheap projector will need adjusting, cleaning and other things that will enoy you at the end. It works but it will not work very long. If you have more questions join a LEM sometimes.
