    Default Blanking!!

Probably a simple question and probably an obvious answer but here goes.......

The output of a laser can be blanked by various means...

I presume analogue blanking means that you have total control over the output from nothing to full power with a near infinate variable output between the 2.

Some lasers have ttl which is a choice of either on or off.

How do I kn ow what my lasers are?
Do I just hook up to a 0 to 5v power supply and see if the laser goes from off through various brightness' until its full on (if its analogue), or see if it just goes from off to on (ttl) or is it more in depth?
