Default What makes a good case

So my system is now too big for the first case I made. What materials do you guys use to make a case? For my first one I used a SKB gear case and made a rack with the Laser heads and Galvos mounted to a plate then everything else mounted to wood. How about costs?

Here is my "inside" mount for all lasers and the power supply+galvos..

And I have a custom made Flight-case under production for this mount!
My uncle is making a case out of wood (I dont know the name of that type wood, but it`s very strong and not so thick)
So I will take that Case and put this alu-mount inside the wooden case..
So there will be no problem to take out the lasers for cleaning and adjusting...

The most important thing for a multi color laser is a thick base plate. Anything under 10mm will be useless, and you will have alignment issues

    Sweet!!

I personally prefer cnc punched steel for our lasers.

Another thng to think about is dust sealing the optics.. I hate cleaning optics, and if they are dust sealed, i dont have to clean them so often

    8) I had a lot of computer data storage cabinets and the like and kept a few for this purpose. My new rig is a little on the large side, but easily modified for the task at hand. This cabinet was an older DSL router hub for a network. http://photonlexicon.com/gallery/album50/100_1693

Here's my home-made case, based on a 250x420x10 mm aluminium plate, individual 2mm aluminium sides and a transparent plexiglas top.
absolutely stable and not so heavy (9kg total)
It'a also easy to works on the sides (drilling, etc) with this config...

Yes of course, it will be sanded and then anodised in the next days, certainly the case in blue and the screws in another color
