Default Random things I buy on Ebay....

Laser Innovations Voyager 1 system, with Mirage control desk.

Amazingly this all seems to work (required very minor repairs to the PC) and I'm currently enjoying running through the show cues from Hot Ice and Eclipse (it would appear to come from Blackpool Pleasure Beach).

It's been brutally modified a lot, but I've located the scanner outputs on a 15 pin D-type (the two 25 pins seem to be midi/smpte fan out, and possibly TTL) I don't suppose anyone's ever worked with their kit? And knows if there is a 15 pin pinout standard?

I know it's not the same as Chameleon PM stuff, but I am getting "X" out on that, so must be some commonality!

I can scope it if all else fails!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's got no practical use this thing, but it's fun to play with old stuff, and the custom keyboard is cool!

    I am home!

To be honest, photo wise it just looks like a PC though. The bottom compartment is full of electronics, but this seems to have been at least partially bypassed, and an output from the Voyager card in the PC, is routed directly to a 15 pin connector on the rear, where I discovered scanner information outputting (though I need to make up a test lead to probe it properly). There is a 25 pin D type as well, which seems to output 0-5V signals on different cues, so I'm thinking beam table/shutter stuff.

Internally there is a PC card which connects to the control panel, and the lower compartment via ribbon cables. There is another card which does not sit on the bus and connects to what I think is the PC's parallel port internally. It has a 9 pin D-type output. This could be a parallel port DMX or MIDI card?? DMX was certainly involved as it ran two Nat scans at Eclipse. (anyone from here get those in his other auction? a lot of fun for anyone with a big gasser!)

Control panel is rather nice and has the serial number "DEMO" Seems to work ok, you can cycle through banks and cues, and edit them with the encoders.

PC has a flashy Laser Innovations logo, and starts and closes many times faster than any of my modern PCs!

There is some laser drawing software and a very old copy of Corel Draw on the computer as well!

It was sold as none booting, but this was because the CD ROM drive was knackered, and the memory had fallen out!

It goes very well with my equally archaic Medialas Light Painter computer, which I have doing laser to SMS from my old Nokia 6300!

    Nice retroller

I'm currently decorating the house and just sat down for a minute; I was just looking at the photos above with my eye stinging from a detergent spalsh and I read the 'Cut all' button as 'c*ntball'; I thought, I don't know what that is but it sounds dangerous!

    Hey Rob,

Am I right in thinking you paid the same for that as cash you sent me.

I saw that on Ebay and though of you.

    Bring it to the LEM.

I haven't pressed the "c*ntball" button yet, I will try it next time I'm probing! (I suspect as it's in the trigger section, it's a rather boring blackout!)

And yup Tony, it was a very similar price! (I have your controller working fine, but you're right, it is a very strange approach to laser control! )

I'll bring it to the LEM if I can get a usable scan signal from it. Hopes are high as I've had "X" already by pure chance!

Supplied and built by the great Mr J Stewart with promises of great things, I should of bought what Medialas were offering at the time instead.
