Dan is most certainly THE MAN!

    That's killa

Auto tool changer? %^***^ yeah!! Now you really can make parts while you sleep:P

I have been keeping an eye on the Syil machines similar to this but have been concerned about after sales service and their poor communication.

Very interested to hear about your experiences with this machine you buy. What is the brand?

    Haha, 'fanks!
It is a Denford Triac VMC. Used almost exclusively in UK schools / colleges for technology departments + training, so almost all of them, despite being anything up to 10+ years old, have never done more than a weeks work and are usually in like-new condition.

@Syil: I have heard of them, but didn't look into them in too much depth.
Do they have an AUS supplier?

If I had that little bit extra wonga and could afford to buy new, I would have gone with a Tormach. I've seen both the 770 and 1100 in person and they are right beauties.

But... they are USA made, and the import costs / VAT to the UK would have just made it a mega no go. Maybe if I outgrow this machine we'll look at one of those then

    Stay tuned...!

Yeah the Tormach are real nice and a1 support from what I hear.
Same problem for us. Ain't nothing cheap to send to AusD

Yes there are Syil agents in Aus and it's handy China is close. There are a couple of guys on www.cnczone.com in Aus who are "taking one for the team" with a few problems.
They look like promising machines though.

It looks like I can use a full size manual mill at a company an old work mate owns.
They make injection moulding dies so hopefully I can get them to machine my mini projector case.

Hopefully I can use the mill with my own cutters and pay to cover some of his overheads to keep him happy to see me.

I can't wait to get milling again.
