Are you looking to create one frame or full animations? Are you looking for full color or are you only running a single color laser? What hardware are you running (galvos, DAC, laser)? Depending on what you are looking for, there are a ton of free programs out there. Anarchy (demo) is free, it will do 3D but will only save in one color and only one frame (no amination)unless you buy the full version. NLS is free and will do full color, full animation and is free. It is not as easy to use as Anarchy, but it is pretty good software for a beginner. Laserboy is free and is very extensive in what it does, but it is daunting to figure out how to use without a few tutorials. There is a whole forum based on Laserboy and free software here: http://laserboy.org/forum/index.php . There are a lot of free programs out there. Use the search tool and I promise, you will find what you are looking for.

This thread has probably not been answered because this question has been answered a TON of times before (use the search). A lot of the people on this forum are professionals and don't mind extending help however, when people start asking for free stuff, they kind of stray away. Lasers are an expensive hobby. This hobby used to cost 10X what it does now. You pay for what you get. If you ask for free, then you will get something that is generally subpar and possibly unsafe. This forum holds safety in the highest regard. If you go cheap, you are probably not going safe. That goes for software, hardware and laser display practices.

All that aside, welcome to PL. Tell us a little more about yourself. You will typically get better responses if you give us a little more information e.g. Name, which country you hail from (safety laws are very different in different in countries around the world) and also a little more about your experience with lasers. It gives us a better idea on how to help you and also makes things a little more personal.

    Cheers,
    Brian
