Default average numver of points in a frame

I'm developing a USB ilda dac.
It will accept a whole frame instead of each point at the time.
As my controller has only 2048 bytes of RAM, I need to add some external RAM. To be able to estimate the amount of memory I need to buffer (twice, as I double buffer), I need to know what the avarage (or realistic maximum) number of points in a frame is.

    It depends on the frame.
A beam has only 2 yet a complicated image will have hundreds or thousands.
The number of points depends on how many lines make the image.

Yes, I know, but if you scan with 60kpps, and you want to have 20 frames/s then you have to limit the points in the animation to 3000 (otherwise you get flikkering). But I doubt that there are a lot of frames having 3000 points in it. So I am curious about the maximum number of points people have encountered yet. If I am wrong in my reasoning and I don't put enough memory in, I can start over again.

I frequently use 1500 points at 30K, and i understand 3000 works well at 60K
