Le Road Food Recipe Thread.
Its 3 AM, your done with a gig, and you prepared ahead, because nothing in town is open. Gas station food is out of the question. So is Toco Bell. You need something you can prep in the truck or the hotel room. What is your favorite roadie food receipe?
PS, Br**e, if you ever, again, expect me to eat a cheap can of ravioli, in a room with no microwave, by heating the sealed can with the hotel's hot water.....Ah, Never mind. It was the only hotel for 100 miles. At least you cleaned the screwdriver we used to open the cans.
Please give credit where credit is due, if you cloned it.
Steve's Version of the Diamond Deli, Akron, Ohio, USA "I made the Dean's List" (Note Deli is next to University)
Best done on a hot sandwich press, or with a Coleman stove toaster.
OK, to microwave, but just is not as good. Slow cooking till insides are fluid, gooey, and dripping is best. A borrowed Sterno can from the hotel's banquet room is a good heat source.
Toast two slices of thick bread, after buttering one side. Olive oil works well here.
Apply liberal layer of sliced Roast Beef to one side
Apply liberal layer of sliced Turkey to other face of sandwich.
Heat deli Cole Slaw slowly till near boiling.
Mix one half of hot Cole Slaw with 1000 Island Dressing.
Apply all Cole Slaw to middle of Sandwich.
Optional slice of swiss cheese on one face prior to applying meat.
Bring multiple napkins/layer of newspaper to protect your clothes.
There is one other ingredient, but they do not disclose what it is. I suspect a tiny amount of horseradish added to the dressing.
