Always busy but still putting show stuff together. Trying to get some new equipment lighting the way. Work is hectic and deadlines are creeping up............also beginning a set of classes for a higher degree is going to be time well spent. More $ = more lasers!!!

    I'm here too! 8)

Been working a lot of extra hours lately, and haven't had time to do more than just pop in for a minute or two to check new threads. (Actually, I last checked them on the 12th, but somehow missed this thread...)

Re: the "Admin" being busy... Yep. I spoke with Robert (SPEC) about a week ago and he's knee deep in a few projects. He admitted that he hadn't had the time to jump in to the discussions like he wanted. Maybe in a month or so when things settle down a bit he'll be able to participate more.

I've been meaning to do some more work with my lasers - I've got half a mind to set them up on the porch for this year's halloween celebration, but I don't know if I can get everything done in time. (I did it about 4 years ago, and it was very cool, but it's a lot of work mounting everything 15 feet off the ground!)

RE: new users... Installing some sort of catchpa would be nice, but I don't know if the software supports it. Might be something to discuss further though.

I don't really care if people register and then never post. I have a bigger problem with the ones that register and then only post spam!

Oh, and let me be the first to welcome Fred back from his trip... Hope you didn't get sick this time buddy!

Please don't delete me from the member list! I usually don't post, just look. But I am impressed by all the contraptions you guys build!

I found out about this forum through the Holography Forum, which is where my connections with lasers come from. My Melles Griot 7 mW He-Ne died earlier this year, but that's undertandable since it was built in 1982! I use a 5 mW Melles now, plus I got a red diode from Marconi, but I haven't been successful in making a hologram with it yet! But I don't have that much time on my hands to play with it.

I have built some scanners as demo pieces for the Optics classes I teach at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Harrington College of Design, and a former part-time job, Columbia College. They include some wobulating mirrors (off-kilter round mirrors on DC motors), mirrors on speakers, but I killed that one the first time out by over-driving them, and a pair of slow galvos from MWK industries that were taken out of Laser Disc players (Remember those?)

My favorite things to make in the holography lab are diffraction gratings for beam multiplying and rainbow projection.

So I guess I'm one of those lurkers or what have you, enjoying the posts, but really not having anything to contribute myself. I am looking for one of those Coherent Compass 315 lasers, the more power the better!

None of the genuine users would get deleted.
It is the ones that have only registered to list their website that contains nothing but meds or porn.

None of the admin have had time to sort anything out though yet.

Ed, maybe you can make me a holograph ?

I think they are cool.. but I never understand how you manage to make some yourself

I`d love to have one myself... maybe with a personal picture..

    Say Ed;

Got any pictures of your work? I'm sure we'd all love to see them... Also, you mentioned several homebrew projects you built; that sounds like fodder for more posts! Many users here started out just like you did, with spinning mirrors and open-loop galvos. (In fact, even my avitar pic was done with nothing but diffraction gratings and dichros! No galvos!)
