Smile The New CNC Mill Arrives!

What a heavy sod this thing is!

Spent most of the day lugging it around (all ~400kg's of it to the 2nd floor) and plumbing it all in; I think we are sorted now.

The tool changer is working , and it's drunk enough coolant to sink a small ship. The only thing I am short of now is a new drill chuck and some bloomin' cutters! I ordered a box full about 2 weeks ago, and the sodding company has made around eleventy billion cock-ups; cutting a long and piss-poor chain of events short: they have still not arrived.

There are a million more things I want to get for it, but a few cutters will keep me busy for a week or so.

Itching to get cutting on it...!

    Some photos:

I got a 'silent' compressor for it, as not to annoy the shit out of the neighbours:

    Box of "control shiz":

Lots of metal ready and waiting to be cut!

    The ATC in action:

My student digs is feeling "less roomy" now.
    Just don't tell the landlord!

    Cheers,
    Dan

Woohoo! yeah baby !!! I think military camo netting will be required to hide that puppy

Will that be running via Mach3? Have you used Mach3 before? Also what CAM software are you going to use?

Did the Roland use its own software? Or Mach3? I'm real interested if it's your first time as I haven't used it either and will be keen to watch the learning process.

Im pretty clear about the CAD and the machining side of things, but the CAM steps in between are still a mystery.

Probably best not to bring it to a LEM, you're bound to get chafe from everyone trying to dry hump your leg
