O.K, so this evening had been earmarked as a p*ssing about evening. I'm trying to spend a bit of time with Beyond to get to know it's features, but sometimes you simply just get sidetracked
So there I was sat in my office at home projecting various cues on the wall, I looked up and at the back of my bookshelf I spot a pair of 'Lasarium' diffraction grating (DG) spectacles that Jon sent to me along with some other stuff some time ago. Now, as anyone who has ever seen some of these will already know they make some real 'trippy' effects when you wear them. Laser projections jump into 3D and look really cool. This kept me amused for a good half hour or so and if you haven't tried looking at your projections through a diffraction grating I can highly recommend it. It looks awsome with just a three colour RGB, goodness knows what it must look like with the nine or so lines of an argon/krypton multi line gasser, completely mindblowing I suspect
This set me thinking, and it didn't take me long to progressing to placing the DG on the output aperture of the laser projector... Now I know that El Cheapo Chinese mini projectors can do a similar thing with dots and this is nothing really new, but projecting different cues brings a whole new degree of awsomeness, some of the abstracts look incredible.
I've tried to video a few different cues, but I had to turn the brightness right down so the iPhone camera didn't get saturated, but unfortunately it was so low that the modulation wasn't working correctly, so you'll really have to just go ahead and try this yourself. I place these here only for inspiration. I know many have done this before, but I figured it was worth a mention. Video's are hosted on Photobucket so they take a couple of moments to load once you've clicked on the picture below.
Cheers
Jem
