Here's a piece of equipment I just saw on available. No lasers so not really in the scope of my collection, but probably worth saving nonetheless. Perhaps someone here might be able to get it up and running with scanners of similar vintage?

I have used that VERY system in St. Louis 2 years ago. The memory cards are all filled with 256x256 8 bit stills with 256 point images.
It was working. No amimations.

? Enter gets you a small fraction of the commands in a help menu.

100 NNST GO gets you the test pattern.

85 GO gets you image 85

You really, really, really need a manual.
The Eproms are encrypted, so you are not adding images, your stuck with whats on the cards.

There were 3 memory cards with the Eprom.

If you want to own the grand daddy of all laser software, that machine is it.

Output is X-Y no color.

..I cut my teeth on ZAP, way-back in '94-95', working for good 'ol Stone Mountain Lasers... pouring-over that LM-14 table was such an 'education'... I took 'notes' of every-sq. mm / was in such awe of the craftsmanship... ..and now we have 'LuckyFamilyShineyStar' boo-boo boxes, for $299. *sigh*

I'm curious if you guys might know, my local planetarium has had an old console in storage for many years. It likely hasn't been used since 1989. It was basically a small desk, computer with 8" floppy below, monitor on top with a beige colored console in front of the monitor. From what I remember it had many knobs, buttons and a joystick. A number of other items they had were from LSDC. Any ideas what this might have been and if it's worth trying to talk them out of? I'm sure after 20+ years it's not going to boot to the floppy disk though... They just renovated the place so it's possible they finally tossed it, not sure.

LSDC also had a Radio Shack Model 100 based system, that was less capable.

The LSDC console is fairly nice, X-Y-Z rotations, sample and hold, orbit. Not really a color chopper/modder . Takes a external image source and can add it to the analog. Steve

Interesting, I remember the AppleDAC word thrown around back then. I'll have you check to see if they still have it, maybe get a pic or two and see how much they'd want to part with it.

Holy crap- the first laser system I owned back in the mid 80s was a Harper Images system like this. I had 4 single color laser heads (R,G,Y,O), all gas tubes with X & Y controls only- no animations, just squiggly lines.

I live in san diego 5 minutes from the person selling this vintage laser system. Do you think its worth getting its about 200 dollars.

If you like buying galvos based on old rubber bands, yes, but it is slow, maybe 20 pps, and that is NOT KPPS, it may have working green, orange or yellow henes depending on the generation, but they would be very weak.

Antique, maybe fun in your living room, but no longer viable.
