Default Help wanted with logo please.

    Hi Folks

I`m new to this forum having found it whlie searching for information on ILDA files.
I`m not particularly big into lasers, my interest stems form the fact that my son, amongst other things, runs a mobile disco and we decided to buy a animation laser to add to his lights. We did not really want to get into the laser shows run from a PC as he already has plenty of stuff to carry about. We wanted something simple basically plug and play. we decided on a KAM 120SD Fscan and got a good deal and the Kam software thrown in as well. The unit came with some animations on the SD card and we were really impressed by the quality. We can add simple text ourselves using the software and it semms to go really well at parties especially with the personalised greeting etc. I am looking for some help to create an ILDA frame from a Logo as my son has a disco in Summer and would like to impress by projecting the logo as well as some other stuff. I have tried to scan and trace the logo but it does not seem to come out very well and I am looking for somebody who could reproduce the logo to a reasonable standard. The laser is only 20kpps so as few points as possible would be good. I would be willing to pay somebody for their time up to a reasonable amount as he does not charge a fortune for his discos. If anybody is willing to help you can PM or mail me and I can give you a website with the logo on or email you a scan.
Also if somebody can tell me how to upload files I am willing to share the stuff I have, I don`t think its copyrighted as its given away with the laser but not 100% on that point.

The site seems a great resource and I`m hoping to be a regular visitor and thanks for reading my post.

    Cheers

    Paul

I would just post the logo in this thread so some of us all can take a stab at it and we can post the resulting .ild files.

    Hi

    Big thanks for the reply.

I will post the image - its the curved bit to the left of the text that I`m after. I can sort the text myself. I have been looking at pangolin QS and it looks very good and easy to use. We do have a spare laptop that I could use to run pangolin and this would be linked to the laser.
Just wondering what you guys reckon about QS?
Also can you let me know how to post my ILDA files for other people to have a look at?

    Cheers

so, here's the big problem with pangolin quick show:

it does a decent job at tracing bitmaps, but it will not export ILDA. you are locked into pangolin's proprietary format and you're hosed if you want to use the file on a non-pangolin (read: industry standard) system.

there's a lot of text in your image. you may have problems scanning it quickly enough to keep the flicker down.

i've had good luck using inkscape (free) and ILD SOS (cheap) to convert bitmap to ilda.

suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' shrimp. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or shrimp, or plate o' shrimp out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconciousness.

    Hi Folks

Thanks for looking - just realised that the logo has uploaded twice. There should only be one logo the above has TWO.

Its really the curly bit at the front that I need to sort - not botherd about the text I can sort something myself for that.

I`m getting more tempted by the Quick show software, not just for bitmap tracing, as it looks quite good for all sorts of effects and seems easy enough to use. Just put off by the price which is around £400 in the UK.
Just wondering what other people use?

Also I`m still not sure how to post any files - any guidance welcome.

    Cheers

    Paul
