    Default DT scanner amp help

Ok, so I've just got round to powering up the first projector tonight to check all connections are good.
    I've got DT30's.

When I turn on, I get a single led on each driver (the right hand side one as you look at the front).
However, normally you get a small click a little while later and the galvos snap to centre. I don't get this, the galvos stay loose.
I've tried applying signal but no change.

I can't remember if you get a second led at any point, but I don't.

Can anyone advise where to start checking?

I have a second projector exactly the same, I'll check that next and see if I have the same prblem, that might suggest it's something I've done wrong on both.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Well, I think I found it.

I'm using the 24V PSU to also run the 2 case fans (not yet connected), via a 12V regulator. When I unplug the regulator, both LEDs come on and the galvos centre.
Strange that it doesn't work here, I've done the same thing in my 2 satellites which use DT25's.

Ok, so it looks like I'll be needing to power the fans separately.
What is the easiest way of getting 12v <1A into my projector in the smallest footprint?
Or should I just switch out the fans for 5v ones? I guess I could run these 12v ones slowly at 5v or 6v too.

a dc-dc converter off the 5v laser supply
or do what i do get a 12 1a wall wort and carefully extract the supply from it, and they are tiny these days
When God said “Let there be light” he surely must have meant perfectly coherent light.

some can be found here (din rail power supplies seem like a good and compact idea) http://gr.mouser.com/Power/Linear-Sw...yzs6qk&FS=True

you could use 24v fans as well (or 5v as you already said)

Given that the DT PSU only gives 0.8A, and the pair of fans will draw 0.4A, and the DT psu is already a bit stretched, I think I'd go for the 5v anyway. I have plenty of spare 5v power.

the only problem with 5v fans is that you can't get any serious cfm blow rates out of them (at least without a ridiculous price and ridiculous dB levels)

maybe reconsider sneaking a 12v din rail power supply in there somewhere? or finding a more robust 24v psu? the added "punch" should also benefit your scanners, me thinks
