It's way too big, though, and there's no way it will be cheap enough to get adopted. They're using an AOM on the green to get video bandwidth!

More likely to succeed is Novalux, who are making electrically pumped VECSELs (vertical extended cavity surface emitting lasers) which have frequency doubling crystals to make visible light. They're mostly targeting the rear-screen projection market (illuminating DLP chips) but they also plan to make mini-projectors with MEMS galvos.

Looks like pretty soon, "laser displays" aren't just going to be for us freaks any more...
