Would somebody with a little knowledge please explain the difference between these three models and if for example, 804 is really "worth" $1k more than a 501 or if a 703 is really worth nearly 2x a 501?

Model 501 water cooled gold cavity $2500.
Model 804 air cooled gold cavity $3500.
Model 703 air cooled ceramic cavity with built-in dye $4500.

Is this a Kia, Lexus, Rolls Royce kind of thing?? Where does an "Orion" fit in this scale?

i could be wrong but i think the 500 series is the the mr coffee L fold
also that 500 series is water to water
where the other 2 are water to air

the 800 series are the most common now as they are just newer (i have 2 )

and this 700 has the ceramic cavity that alone will increase the output significantly like say 60w ish or more (never had one )
and it also has a dye pak built it so it can produce yellow

from a factory perspective i thing the gold were rated at 20w and the ceramic at 40w but in the real world its more like 40w and 60w

if i remember correctly i think jon had my gold cavity 804 doing like 47W

That's about right except the 501 is also a z-fold like the others, just water cooled. The gold cavity lasers were rated at around 20W and capable of up to 40W. The ceramic cavity lasers were rated at around 40W and capable of up to 60W. The 703 I have listed is ceramic and also has the dye module built in.

Indeed, but the 500s, iirc, were also a slightly smaller deck / slightly-different config... Still a Z-fold, yes, but a bit different layout / not quite as much room, on-deck, for shizzle.. fine for fiber-launchers, etc..

Cap'n Steve - permission to post-up some pix / links to another thread, of a DSLS KTP 'drop-on' pj, that *might* aid in sales of these? I think some may be 'intimidated' by the whole 'conversion-process' and actually getting something to a 'useable-state'.. but, if (...for QUALIFIED-buyers.. some felt there was 'help' available for both quick-conversion / projector-options, that might help move one / two of these? Lemme know yer thoughts, if-not, I'll just put the pix / info up in a different-thread..

fwiw, Last time we bought a 700 'high-power' (ceramic-cavity) as a *raw* unit, from our 'known-good units' supplier, it was $7500. - time before that, it was $12,500. (!) So, uh, yeah - $4500. for one of these pups - *let alone* .."with built-in dye" - That dye-unit / plus all the fine work Steve-did to convert / integrate-in that unit - is worth at *least* 3-4x what he's asking.. If I saw that conversion-sys for $20K+, I would not even bat an eyelash over it, if I were in the market... Not trying to 'talk you into anything' Just sayin - he's offering these things for next-to nothing...

Steve, if it really-gets 'down to the wire', I'd propose renting some storage, vs letting these go so-cheap...Sure, then yer 'spending-$$ to potentially-gain, later', but I know of a few definite-buyers for these, (..it's just not the 'right-time' atm..) and once we've got the 'drop-in' 30W Blue-finished to marry with these, I have a feeling the HPs and Dyes are going to become a 'hot ticket', fast...

I know a little about the dye prospects with these and the flexibility is really nice. I am not in the market RIGHT NOW, but with JON's help I am seriously considering the dye integrated unit. I think you should consider his recommendation to store these for a little while until the two of us aren't buried in work. It is not a money thing.

If these end up cheaper and someone is bringing them to the east coast (NY) I might be interested in some things. I'm defiantly interested if they come out my way, at the right price of course....

I know you guys are probably getting tired of hearing about these so this is my last pitch. Two converted Laserscopes, one with dye, a third unit for parts, 3 dye laser modules, plus 4 closed loop remote fiber scan heads/200um fiber/launches/collimators, a boom with scanners that attaches to the deck and puts the scanning output at about 8-9ft, lots of spare lamps, lamp bands, KTP crystals, H2O filters, DI cartridges, laser dye, etc. $7,500 obo takes it all. Last call on these. Going, going....
