Default ESI YAG Laser Head - Excellent Condition

Here is a listing for a yag laser I just put up on a popular auction site.

    http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=140721172185

    Offers? / Suggestions?

Pat, could you pump KTP with this to produce 532 green? (prolly a silly question- pardon my ignorance )

It seems that I can find you a few of pump flashlamps for this laser (not sure, but), we have very similar YAG lasers at work (old q-switched lasers) that are being replaced by DPSS, so we have a few spare and remaining 3kW flashlamps to pump the crystal... The cavity is exactly the same as on your pictures (with protection for crystal and lamp), and the lamp are the exact same shape.
We were using the lasers at 12A, but with a higher voltage though. And I always loved to think I can convert these power to green

well to answer if they could be converted to green??? Well YES they can! The fundamental wavelength to convert to 532 is 1064. Now the other question is...Does one have the knowledge, patience, resources and ability to convert it is the unknown.

Yes, I guess that would be the real question.. Do you have a diagram/ drawing of how the crystal would be pumped using this laser? And would said crystal have integrated attached HR and OC resonator optics or would they be external? Thx.

here is the problem, photonlexicon does not have the bandwidth to convey designs (well they probably have the bandwidth but im to lazy to design it for you). I would suggest you start with patent searches or information on (intra cavity Inline frequency doubling) Extra Cavity frequency doubling or for intra cavity L-Folded resonators, V-Folded resonators and Z-fold resonators (laserscope optical relay). each one is unique in its own way. Too many variables to explain (this falls into the knowledge category)

The laser as it sits is just the beginning to making green light...

    Hey Pat,
I'm not looking for any free design advice or trying to take the "easy way out", just wondering if it can be done.. say, like this?
(inserting the 1064 here (bottom dwg) and getting rid of the 808 pump and the vanadate.
(This would be too easy, right?) ;D

I wasnt accusing you of anything like that. I Apologize for confusion. Drawings are one thing...getting light of the kind you want is another thing

But yes to respond to your drawing...that is a classical extra cavity frequency doubling technique. As i said...all designs have their pros and cons. The con to this design is low power...there are better ways of getting green, just quickly look at L-fold and z-fold techniques, both are more complicated yet have higher yields.

Ill let the cat out of the bag a bit, but this is coming up after this auction closes...yes it is a inline intra cavity doubling laser.

Ok, I read up on V folds Z folds and L folds, now my brain hurts! It looks like the optics costs and the intensive time/ labor involved will put a stop to that project before it starts (for me, anyway) .. Thanks for the the info Pat! I learned a bit today !
PS, just out of curiosity, what is the rep-rate of that flash-lamp? Is your Yag considered pulsed or CW?
    Thx-

the arclamp is CW the Q-Switch makes it a pulsed laser

did you see the green one i just posted? Sort of a sneak peak for PL folks, should appear on fleabay in a few days.
