Has anybody found out if this 501P73 has a 100um emitter size, or was that speculation?? -Thx.

    Ps, nice pix CDBeam

Aside from the page full of meaningless slow chat, do we have any actual decent test data and pictures of this beast in action?

It was measured at 100um using a electron M/S but even then am not sure that measurement was accurate due to the emitting point of a diode. I think from my tests its more like 80um and the G71 50um. So in a nut shell its still speculative.

Can I hook this upto a different driver board with ttl? Looks too good to be true. I have the 650nm laserfoghorn searchlight oldschool DPSS and it is outclassed by the newer green and blue modules. SOooooo good buy or not? I can re heatsink it no worries..

That is a unit that is putting out 450-550mW with the G-2 and a G71 diode being driven @ 750mA with a linear driver that uses a 5V 1-2A fixed power source without any extra heatsinking to the driver. You will want to keep the diode nice and cool to keep the output steady.

Alternativly if you wanted to pick up the diode in module with leads and G-2 on my site for $95 then you can use whatever driver works best for you.

You could go with the G71 in module with leads and G-2 https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf...m-300mw-diodes
or the P73 in module with leads and G-2 https://sites.google.com/site/dtrlpf...m-500mw-diodes
The P73 will run more stable with less aggressive active cooling for you and with slightly less current needed to get 500mW.
Then pick up a P3 from this guy. http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/sa...ers-63932.html
Or anyone else that may have some in stock and you will be under $190.
