Scanner Question
I know, I know... pictures would help. (I'll try and take some.) But, my question is... given a set of identical scanners, what adjustment might control the size of the scan?
I have two projectors. Both from the same manufacturer (CR-Tec), from the same family (System 7) with the same scanners and layout inside the projector. One is the "M", one is the "S" model. The only side by side difference is that the green and blue modules are a bit less power on the S model. The M is supposed to be around 700mW and the S is around 450mW. Recently, I've notice the maximum scan angle acheivable on one is much less than the other.
If you put them side by side and daisy chain them with an ILDA cable (both have in/out) and play a show. On one the scan angle is significantly narrower than the other. I don't know if there is a pot to adjust or, could it be something as simple as the orientation of the galvo motor in the block. (Actually, I may have just answered my own question.... I may go adjust it and see if that's it. But, if not... thoughts?)

Upon further investigation, the problem seems to lie in a board that allows external control of the X and Y size. On one, it maxes out much wider than the other but, the one that doesn't max out completely was one we had to do a solder repair on at SELEM two years ago, as an invert switch had been broken off when I received it. By some playing around I've been able to get a test pattern to overlay each other almost perfectly and while the scan is "ok", it's nowhere near as wide as these scanners are capable of.

You can see the difference between the two in this picture. The correction was made by first increasing the "Projector Settings" in Showtime to 100% and reducing the image size on the projector with the larger pattern by way of the knobs on the back of the projector. The final product is I can get them to match at about the middle between these two patterns.

I guess in the grand scheme of things it's not too bad now. Just wish they could go a bit larger.

If the pots are set the same is the smaller image half the size of the other?
