Imagine this with really big lasers? I am talking punching holes with multi-watt arrays.

    :evil grin:

    Sorry.

I've always thought of replacing my home defense weapon (12 ga shotgun) (which I hope that I'll never ever have to use on anything else other than milk jugs filled with water) with about 200-300 watts of 808 in some kind of bar-array focused beam assembly. I'd probly kill myself though during the construction of something like that lol

All you need is a robot costume and you could be a big club hit with that array! You would kill em in the isles...

no you really should not do that for several reasons... keep the 12ga... or get a 9mm if you want something more portable... and you can put a laser on that

I Agree. Do you know how much energy there is in a single milk jug of water?

Why do I not want a ray-gun? I think it'd be really cool to punch a hole thru something with a photonic beam.. (no .. not balloons)

Sorry to derail your thread dnar.. that vid is super-cool with all the miniature buildings, robots and little cop cars with flashing lights :]

I recently read that the land speed record for electric vehicles was being challenged by a car powered by a Li ion battery pack that weighed only 160 lb and generated 160 KW. That direct current would drive 40,000 445 diodes with only a little if ANY modification. Portable, 40 KW and FOCUSABLE!!

because if you do seriously/fatally harm someone with a laser you dont want the ATFE taking note and begin considering classifying "high power" lasers as weapons... then the party will really be over... you think the CDRH can be a pain in the ass? don't fsk with the ATFE
