Default Prolight & Sound 2012 - post your impressions

I'll begin with the Kvant show

Honestly I was a bit disappointed this year as there was less shows than last year... Lobo, Laseranimation Sollinger, etc didn't had any show while they all had really impressive ones last year. I hope this doesn't mean a general decrease in laser interest... Maybe a lack of time.

On the other side, Laserworld had a big show this year, with moving structures and at least 60 lasers... A bit too much imho, and of course not a single lasers in the show where actually Laserworld branded, but RTi and Swisslas mainly (the brands they acquired recently).

Otherwise it's still a very great place to go for you laser lovers. You won't see as much lasers in any other place

I met a lot of people and had a lot of interesting discussions, with Bill and Justin (Pango), Martin (Kvant), Robert (RGB), and many others.
PL folks I met was Edison and Fourdee. Was nice to meet you guys

Coming from this laser. Spec is 400W, running only at 100... Beam diameter to choose between 15-35mm, divergence 0.2-0.8mrad, not that bad

Brand new line of Kvant modules, with some exotic colors like orange. Most are DPSS, patent pending on some new technology, so I don't know a lot of details on these...

Finally, this seems to be the famous ethernet housing for the Pango FB3! Actually a full computer inside running Win7, with monitor output and mouse/keyb inputs. Promising!

wasn't at prolight, didn't have the time to go.
The FB3 ethernet looks nice but I wonder about the cost of these.

Thanks SBK. It was nice to meet you. I talked allot probably but all the excitement sometimes gets me sometimes. I talked with allot of companies and had a real good time with Fernando from Cittadinni. Next year i will be there for sure. I,m more a fan of Lems because all the stuff that is on Prolight is nice but i can,t afford it anyway. Hope to see you soon :-)

Interested in 6-12W RGB projectors with low divergence? Contact me by PM!

    Yes they are.

I hoped a bit more info on these but hadn't. All I know is that's brand new technology and beam quality will be very good (0.6 - 0.8mrad full angle), as well as modulation, I heard up to 100kHz with very linear response to input. But the power levels will not be very high at the beginning, under 1W.

Indeed was nice to meet you too, we had some very interesting discussions And it was nice to see your modules in real, very good quality for sure. Can't wait to install a few into my projectors!

Yes Prolight is more "pro" laserist oriented, a lot of companies are using OPSL only so their projectors are not affordable for us, but it's good to dream a bit

    Is that the WiFi unit?

Kvant already have it in their catalogue. I avoided posting before Prolight as I didn't want to draw attention to it until Pangolin had revealed it. No price though.

The Laserworld show (not from me). Not bad at all, technically very good, despite I find the music boring

Trying to be as objective as I can, this show was far too cluttered. Simple chaos. Most of the time less is more and that applies to lasers too I think. They tried to show that they can too, but....
I believe the show was programmed by owner of Phoenix using Laser MATRIX interfaces from Showtacle guys (Fiesta.NET and Moncha.NET developers).
I'll have a video of our stand hopefully finished next week..
