Default How to control a Le Maitre Nutron XS hazer with dmx from Pangolin sw

Hello fellow PL members, recently acquired a Le Maitre Neutron XS hazer with dmx break-out box.
Also have my QM2000 net box card with dmx connectors.
Is it possible to pass a commando from BEYOND/LivePro to set the hazer fan speed and haze output?
Or do i need to buy a separate usb to dmx adapter with software, if so any suggestions so that i can also use this from for example Quickshow?

I can control my Unique 2's fan and pump by DMX using the QM2000.net and the little free program that Pangolin supply. I think it's called QMX24 in the LD2000 directory. I wouldn't have thought your hazer's DMX control requirements were much different.
    Hope this helps

Hi Jem, thanks for the hint, didn't know it was included and found the binary, will testdrive it this evening.
I think the Le Maitre dmx box uses 1 or 2 channels, found info here : http://www.lemaitre.co.uk/productInf...KeyProduct=174
since i have no experience with dmx so far i will setup my qm2000, connect the hazer, set the dipswitch to an adress (binary from right to left???) and then use the program to send a command to it right?

I think that's pretty much it. I just seem to remember plugging mine in and it worked on the first two sliders, one ofr pump and one for fan.

Are you trying to have an "on screen" button to make the hazer go whenever you want or do you want to make a DMX frame that will make your hazer go during a show or for a cue in LivePro/BEYOND?

QMX24 should work well if you just want to have something on screen to make the hazer go; to make a DMX frame is a bit more involved, not too hard, but would allow you to trigger your hazer during a pre-programmed show or to make a LivePro/BEYOND cue that would be a bit easier to use than the QMX24...

    Hi Aaron

I once made some cues in LivePRO to control my hazer by DMX. Problem was is was a simple on or off. Not good when both your pump and fan come on at 100% in the house .

Is it now possible to set up different cues at say 10%, 20%, 30% etc?

    Cheers

Hi, I'm pretty sure that the Neutron XS is just one channel of DMX.

Also from memory it's either on or off so there's no level control as such, although from what Jem describes above it could work perfectly!

No idea about the Neutron, but the Unique has full DMX control of both the fan and pump settings, 0% to 99%.

You can also use the dmx Moving head setting in livepro to control the haze and fan. Dot in the lower left corner is off. Dot in the centre is both at 50% upper ricght corner = 100%. or you can program cues.

As far as I know LivePro is on or off with DMX; QS might be able to make something to work at less than 100% and I would think BEYOND will be able to use a lot of the settings (probably limited to use with an ENTTEC right now). We actually have a Unique hazer here at the office; I might try to snag it for some testing at home.

This might also work for you Jem; I was thinking along this line while I typed my response to you. I was going to say you could probably make a custom DMX frame in LD2000 to fool LivePro into doing what you want. Might take a bit of playing around to get it perfect.
