Feeler: ILDA Compatible Laser Harp Controller

Hey guys,

during my first 2 runs of laser harps, I had quite a few people come to me asking if I could make them directly ILDA compatible.

Well, I am considering doing another run of fully assembled, ILDA compatible laser harp controllers.

You would simply plug it into your laser projector, give it some power (Most likely mains power), plug in your MIDI device, and set the sensor up infront of you. No assembly or electrical knowledge required.

Again, this is just a feeler to see if anyone is interested. I am working on my laser cutter at the moment, so will probably have custom enclosures for them and everything.

With the current design you have a separate control board to control everything. With an ILDA compatible controller you don't need this, just play a harp frame together with the sensor board. You could also do stuff like changing the colour more easily.

It also means you don't have to source a single galvo and laser. Simply plug n play.

As for price, really couldn't give a final price as I haven't done the design yet, however I can say they'll be a hell of a lot cheaper than the commercial ones

As an person who is severely electrically challenged this sounds like the sort of gadget for me. Plug and play is extremely tempting.

A question, very possibly an extremely silly one, but here goes... How much is involved in making the tones/colours modulate as you move your hand up and down the 'string'?
