When replacing the harddrive, remember to enable "TRIM" or at least check that it's enabled!
This function tells the OS that the files you delete are really marked as deleted, otherwise it will getting slower and slower untill the drive is completely full without having a clue why it's so slow!

    To check TRIM:

Open the Start Menu, type CMD
Right click the icon and Run as Administrator

    Type: fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify

DisableDeleteNotify = 1 (Windows TRIM commands are disabled)
DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Windows TRIM commands are enabled)

    To enable TRIM:

Open the Start Menu, type CMD
Right click the icon and Run as Administrator

Type: fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0

    Hey Andy.

Probably missed the boat now, but try this one...
    http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Stora...roductId=45660

I've got a couple of them plus the 250gb offerings and they're pretty sweet

Weirdly, battery life on my lappy drastically dropped after swapping over. Took me a bitvto realise that although the ssd uses less power than a hdd, because it passes the data so much quicker, the processor works harder/faster and thus hotter so fans run more etc etc...

    Just so ya know
If in doubt... Give it a clout?

    Hi Andy,

I've been using the Samsung 830 SSD's without issue for nearly a year. Got about 20 in use in total and no issue thus far.

Guess the 840's are newer models.

    Mark.
