Default A few red beam and telescopic photos

theres been a lot of talk about red building on this forum recently but not a lot of action.

i built a test module for someone and it needed a few thigs tweaking. its running 6x 660nm open can diodes, its kicking out 1watts in a 2.8mm by 3.2mm beam @0.6mR

the beam is so tight and sexy i fooking love it, i want one for my self!

    Great photos Andy.

I like the angle bracket adjustment set up you made. Neat and tidy

Nice build! It's too bad that 660s are so dark. I like the color, but the apparent brightness is so low. What is your experience with diode longevity, Andy? I have heard that these pop a lot. Has that been your experience as well? I know you work a lot with 660s.

if you over drive the diodes to much yes they will die, these are set to about 200mw each and each diode is isolated from the base plate so they should be good for long life

shove some optnext 170mw 642nm diodes in there and see what you get or try the 110mw new mitsu diodes. Just got one of those today. Very nice beam.

Yes, they pop all the time. But, they're very inexpensive. It's really just the inconvenience of replacing them. The color is nice, Andy. And your right; very long on theory and a little lean on beams. Nice!

i was saying to briggs the other day im getting really bored of small builds i really wana get my teeth into another big 30 diode build. there just isnt the right diode out there for me.

    i need cheap diodes
i love the colour of 660 but having the case connect is a real pain.

if only there was a 660 with an isolated case.

or someone else funded a 637 project
