Default What are your favorite colors for a s/s RGB projector?

Some prefer 658-660nm for red and 635-638 for others. The blues vary also per personal taste. 445? 473? 488? Some see 635 as "too orange". Some see 488 as "too bluish-green". While we don't presently have a lot of choices for solid state green at the moment, except for the standard 532 DPSS, the new DI diodes and OPSL, what colors would you consider perfect for the best white-light mix, or simply aesthetically pleasing to the eye?
Personally my favorites are 488 (blue-green) 556 (green-yellow-I've never seen this one in person tho), and 635 (bright red-orange, although it looks much more red than orange to my eyeballs Your preferences, and why?
    Thx

I am currently loving 637 (Optnext 63113), 532, 445. The colour pallet is pretty nice.

I am not seeing my reds as "orange" since changing from 658nm... But the reds do punch hard now, with little noticeable difference to the red/blue hues. The red/green hues are much nicer, real orange, good range of reds, orange through to yellow and lime.

Having not run 473 or 488 in my projectors, although I have seen these in action, I must say I do like the deep blue you get from 445nm...

Maybe we should discuss colours in terms of flavours? I love the taste of pure 637, although mixed with some 532 it has a nice grape flavour.

Yes, I have read that the 63133 diodes do have an unbeatable beam profile. Have you tried pushing them any past their design specs, Dnar?
Mmm 637 and a dash of 515; cherry-cola with a splash of bourbon? n/m, that sounds terrible

i like having extra lines, having multiple blues like 445 and 473 available along with multiple reds, green, yellow significantly expands your color pallet...

in my projector just driving the different blues individually (473 & 445) gives me significantly more colors...

    problem is exotic colors =$$$

To my eyes the perfect mix would be 460-465, 520-525 and 645-650.

I really hate 445... Crappy fat beam, and it looks more violet than blue to me. 452nm binned diodes are better, but the beam is still horrible. 473 is a great color, and has a nice thin DPSS beam. But I would like a bigger range of colors, so something single mode between 460 and 465 would be perfect. 457 might do it too, but I have never seen it.

532 is a little too limegreen for me, the green LED on a FB3 has a way nicer color. Looks to be around 520-525nm, so that would be my choice. Hopefully 445 pumped 523s will go up in power and down in price soon.

As for red, 637 is orange and 658 is too dark. A single mode 645-650 would be perfect.

^Agreed, 445nm looks more violet than blue to me too..

-edit- just noticed that CNI has added a few more colors to their lineup, some pretty nice ones too.

    I have:
    A) 635-532-445
    B) 640-532-445
    C) 650-532-473
    D) 640-532-473
    My personal ranking:
    1st place D) setup
    2nd place C) setup
    3rd place B) setup
    4th place A) setup

I think should be nice to have a largest range of modulation for all colors (some old red modules have 10-15KHz only, instead some newest blues have 30Khz or more). This should means largest range of colors (is it correct? I'm not so expert about modulation..... I apologize in advance for any crap I'm saying).

Yeah I too have a 473 and prefer it over the 445 color, that blue is just so much better, but it's just so low on power. I paid like 800 bucks for 100mw 473 years ago.. I wish D.I. diodes would suddenly become cheaper fast, and have that color.. I know that ain't gonna happen anytime soon.. but one can always dream ..
-edit- I would also like to add yellow to the lineup to make a RYGB ..
    What's the best yellow? 561? 589? 593?
These people seem to have all those nice yelloows.. http://www.laserglow.com/R59 (I don't know if they're any good ..) (but I'm sure they ain't cheap)..
editII- it looks like cni too has these yellows.. (see above pic page) as well as probably alot of other mfgs. Ok, back to RGB, not yellows ..
