Well my journey is about to begin, see y'all in a couple days, travel safe!

Argh... Ok, I'll print a few extras with your avatar on them for ya. You wouldn't believe how much time I've invested in these damn name badges though! Next year someone else is going to get "volunteered" to do this! (And yes, this means that just like last year, everyone is getting name badges with their avatar and both their forum name and their first name on them. If you didn't have an avatar, I picked one for you!) Big thanks to telmnstr for the extra lanyards... They look great!

I also have some last-minute tags made up for people who register at the door. They will just have the generic SELEM logo on them though, and they will have to hand-write their name on them. (Then again, most of the guest tags have blanks for the person's first name too, because only a few people actually gave me names of their guests. So everyone else will have to get creative with a sharpie...)

Still waiting for the shirts to be delivered. Nothing like going right down to the wire, right? I've been in touch with them every day since last week Thursday. They shipped yesterday (2-day air out of Wisconsin), so they should arrive tomorrow, but I'm still waiting for a tracking number. Grrrr.

Some good news: it has been confirmed that Steve (the guy from the science museum) will be the venue representative working with us again this year. Steve has always treated us well, and he really digs the laser shows, so it's nice to know he will be with us again. Also, it looks like we will be able to start setting up in the cafeteria a little earlier on Friday. Original plan was 3PM or later. Now they say as soon as they've cleaned up after lunch, we're golden. So figure on 2 PM or 2:30 PM at the latest.

For everyone who is traveling - PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY! Don't want to start this event out with a tragedy. Also, be sure to double-check all your gear. (You wouldn't believe some of the things people have forgotten over the years.)

I should be in town by 11 AM on Thursday. Olivia already said we can start setting up early if we want. If anyone gets lost, or has last-minute questions, my cell phone will be on all day: (843) 324-0735.

Note: there is a parade on Thursday evening that starts around 5 PM. If anyone wants to watch it, Olivia said she could set out some lawn chairs in front of the old Artist's Cafe building. (That's where she lives now; she rents an apartment above the old Cafe.) So if anyone is interested in walking down there to see the parade, let me know and I'll take Olivia up on her offer of the chairs for us.

Don't worry - you already had one. But Dan didn't, nor did Owen or Rachel, for example. So I made an executive decision... I think they'll approve. (And if not, well, then I guess they'll have an avatar next year then, won't they?)

I will bring extra lanyards if we come up short. Last chance WED. to add to the AixiZ shopping list- I am going by there on the way to the airport(10 min away) if anyone needs something I dont have with me I can order it from SELEM for you.
I dont know what its like to arrive at SELEM w/o just driving 1700 miles- if I can rermember I will leave a small note book at the front desk- anyone who wants can 'sign in' put thier room # and maybe cell # too. That should make finding those whose last name is not known a tad easier. If you happen to need another to share the room on one or more of the nights that would be a good thing to note also.

and YES- all please take care on your jouney-- no accidents or speeding tickets (this time)

I had hoped to make it to SELEM for my fifth year, but can't quite pull it off due to funding shortfalls.

Waiting a year takes less time every year, so I look forward to 2013 and other laser-related events in the interim. Make sure someone sets up an awesome 1080P LiveStream or something!
