We have been using them for a year or 3 now, and I think its the only real solution for smaller venues.

gaffer tape works ok for me, only the centre the lens perfect to prevent prismatic effect is more difficult using gaffer tape as you still have the left right factor.

Maybe it makes sense to make of a test pattern to adjust the lens in the centre.

I was thinking of a a cross with 2 additional vertical lines like this ---|-|-|--- where you can use the horsontal line to adjust to correct hight of the lens, and the 3 vertical lines to centre the lens.

That sounds like a great idea for the setup frame.

You are using Bonetti's defense against me, ah?

I thought it fitting, considering the rocky terrain.

Shouldn't be hard to create as both QS and Beyond have grids in the cue editors.

    Lens Alignment Frame.zip

Anyone want to give this a try?

I've aligned the line as closely to the relevant grid lines as I could.

Adam, it’s great to hear that they worked well for your event.

Hopefully someone can come up with a decent solution that makes the lenses more useable so that they can become a standard part of everyone who wants to audience scan's kit.

The problems that need to be addressed to make this a brilliant tool are:

    1) Universal mounting system, adaptable to different projectors. Projector manufacturers may need to be part of the solution here, by providing a standardised accessory mount.
    2) It needs to provide the adjustments required for best alignment.
    3) At the moment the lenses are too vulnerable to damage, so a system that protects the lenses would be good.

The test image is an excellent additional immediate idea.

    Hi all,

I also posted this same information in another thread. I'd provide a pointer, but I don't know how to do this with forum software

Anyway, it's true that Pangolin is making our own mounts now for the SafetyScan lenses. (Basically, took some time away from scanner development to design the mounts.) And it's also true that we're providing full engineering plans for anyone interested in making their own mount as well.

For people who want to obtain both lenses and mount from a single source, we can be that source. But for those who are do-it-yourselfers, or want to modify our mount, that's no problem too. We stand ready to assist you.

We've updated the SafetyScan Manual and also provided a link to a zip file with all of the engineering files. You'll find both of these on our SafetyScan web page, on the left side under "Related pages" and you'll also find the engineering plans near the topic heading "How to incorporate the SafetyScan lens". The page is here:
    http://www.pangolin.com/SafetyScanLens/

Let us know if you need anything else, but I'll also remind everyone that I don't get around to PL much any more, so email is preferred.

    Best regards,

    William Benner

Hiya, I cannot open the enginnering files but I do have two threaded M4 bolt holes either side at 77mm apart, just below the level of the aperture.

How far apart are the mounting holes on the bracket?
